Dinkes Implements Booster Shot Adjustments for Elderly

The Jakarta Health Agency (Dinkes) is set to apply booster vaccination adjustments for seniors over 60 following the latest provisions from the Ministry of Health. Booster shots can now be given at intervals of at least three months after receiving a complete second or primary dose.

Seniors can take advantage of this faster booster opportunity to boost immunity

Dinkes Head, Widyastuti said the vaccine given is a Covid-19 vaccine regimen that is available in the field and has received an Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) from BPOM and is following the recommendations from the Indonesian Technical Advisory Group of Immunization (ITAGI).

"Seniors can take advantage of this faster booster opportunity to boost immunity. Make sure the third ticket has been issued in the PeduliLindungi application and immediately vaccinated," she expressed, at Dinkes Office as quoted from Jakarta PPID's press release, Tuesday (2/22).

This booster can be done homologously or heterologously based on the provisions of BPOM. At this time, it could use vaccines other than Sinovac, as it was limited and targeted at children aged 6-11.

He went on to say that those taking primary Sinovac vaccine could receive a half dose of Pfizer booster, a half dose of AstraZeneca, or one dose of Moderna. Then those taking primary AstraZeneca vaccine could receive booster shots with AstraZeneca, a half dose of Pfizer, or a half dose of Moderna.

Further, those taking primary Pfizer could receive booster shots with AstraZeneca or a half dose of Moderna. Those taking Moderna could take booster shots with a half dose of Moderna.

While those taking primary Sinopharm could take booster shots with Sinopharm vaccine. Thus far, the achievement of the Covid-19 vaccination in Jakarta for the primary dose has now exceeded the set target.

In total, the first dose reached 12,395,035 people (122.9%), the second dose reached 10,378,368 people (102.9%), the third dose or booster reached 1,146,524 people. Therefore, the public is urged to immediately take part in the vaccination drive, either completing the primary vaccine or booster shot.

It has been shown to reduce symptoms, risk of hospitalization, and death. They are also advised not to be picky about vaccine brands, as health workers will provide the best vaccines available at health facilities and the nearest vaccination center. All vaccine brands are safe, healthy, useful, and has good quality.
